Local 204 Reaches Tentative Agreement with Kroger

UFCW Local 204 in North Carolina has reached a tentative agreement with the Kroger Company regarding a new contract.  The members held firm and were able to negotiate a good contract, with real wage increases. They were also able to protect their health care reserve fund, and were even able to negotiate some improvements to that fund.

Members noted that the contrast between the first offer from the company and the last was remarkable.  It was made possible due to the solidarity and strength of Local 204 members, and also because of the support of UFCW members and other union members across the country, community members, and all those who worked so hard to get a better contract for UFCW grocery workers.  National bargaining made it possible in North Carolina, and set a precedent for upcoming national bargaining efforts throughout North America.
